Wild Man of the Woods.
During the past few weeks residents between Mudgee and Hargraves, N.S.W., have, been disturbed from their slumbers by strange noises.
These remained a mystery till one afternoon last week.
At about 5 o-clock they were again heard, and several persons residing in the locality were astonished to see a peculiar -animal, about 5ft. high standing on his two legs, and brushing away, with his claw-like hands, long unkempt-looking hair from his eyes.
The animal was covered with long white hair, and when seen was uttering cries similar to those which have been disturbing the peace of the neighbourhood.
The hairy man, or whatever he is, was only seen for a minute and disappeared as suddenly as he came.
