Gday Dean shane hearIve gone thru the sound files on web site very interestingone part of the recording did strike a nerveat the beginning of track 1 you hear the man spot two of themby a rock and the following high pitch screech is very similarto the communication I heard at the forestry huts on top ofEwingar ridge.the sound reverberates into high pitch cry followed bya deep chuffing sound but only the latter changed in tonebetween each indervigeral.they weren't rampedly screaming at the top of there voicesI truly think my friend and I where being observed, the communication between the animals was firmly loud enoughbut not ramped screaming like on the sound recording.my travel partner has spent a lot more time in thiscountry than I have .and he recounted an incident at the huts several monthsearlier ,it began with a hell of ruckus one night that had wokenmy friend it was coming from the gully behind the hutscrashing and bashing filtered thru the dense gully sonot being afraid my friend walked around the huts andto the edge of the gully.every think went quiet , then a low pitch growl that intensified to a dull roar, scared shitless he grabbed a fairsized rock and through it in to the gully, it and my friendretreated crashing thru the undergrowth this thing went.I had a laugh my friend had told me how he had placed a broom stick behind the door of the hut he was terrified.he told me the story of the Ewingar cat ,a very large black cat was shot many years ago on topof the ridge and the legend lives on ,my friend believes it was a black cat that night BUT I thinkhe was sadly mistaken , anyway to the locationEwingar is west of tabulum northern nsw ,it is one of the highest ridges around some other placesclose by are,LoinsvilleMalira topsSolfrenothis bush is heavy goingmy friend and I are planing a trip to Ewingar forestry hutsweekend after ester, this time with sound recorders and cameras.we are prepared to put time and money into what we believea rare opportunity.
