I was driving on Alpine Way, 40 minutes out of Khancoban with no other cars on the road, when 3 Kangaroo’s came bounding out of the bush from the right side of the road. Because I was going so slowly, I didn’t have to break, I just took my foot off the accelerator. I then saw this ‘creature’, come out of the same spot as the Kangaroo’s did and he just stood there on the edge of the bush, basically on the side of the road.
I thought good heavens, what is that? I had never seen anything like it in my life.
While I was driving slowly, it was looking at me, looking right into my eyes. This is when I had the feeling I was looking at something intelligent. This wasn’t an animal. It was weird. I didn’t know what it was. I just kept driving. I was puzzled but not frightened. I’ve never seen anything like this in Australia and I’ve lived here for most of my adult life.
I drove on and called my Son who lives in Canberra, and he said to me that I might have seen a Yowie.
It was about 5 feet tall and very solid. He was pale coloured. A pale grey/white colour. We went on line last weekend and stopped at the Yowiehunters Website and somebody had drawn a picture of one and I said ‘That’s what I saw!”. It had matted hair down to the shoulders and a biggish head. He looked like a Rugby League player, that kind of a build, but shortish. I couldn’t really tell what gender is was because I couldn’t see any genitalia. He was looking at me like he was trying to make a discussion whether to cross the road or not. Then he turned around and walked back into the bush.
There wasn’t any sense of I’ve startled him or anything, he just looked curious about this Human I think. I have never seen before or since anything like it. I know what I’ve seen and I know what I’ve seen is real.
I was so glad I was driving slowly because they came out of the bush at speed. If I was doing 60 or 70kmph they would have wiped out the car. I was probably doing about 30kmph and they came out only about 30m in front of me.
He really didn’t have much hair other than the head to the shoulders. His skin was a spotty pale grey, but I couldn’t see any genitalia. I have the impression that he also had pale eyes. He was looking at me, then he just walked back into the bush. He looked as curious about me as I was of it. I don’t like to use the term ‘animal’, I had the sense of an intelligent being. We both made eye contact and I had the sense of an intelligent being. His head looked bolted to the shoulders. I didn’t get a sense of any neck. He was thick set with a big head with black straggly hair.
I am a very rational person and I am quite shocked that I saw something that isn’t supposed to exist.
