Location: Dungay Creek, New South Wales

Event: Yowie Sighting

Date: 1962

Time: Various

Witness: J. Delaforce (Sister)

I was about 10 or 11 years old at the time. My sister and two brothers went from the house, which was in the bush, down to pick some oranges which was about 2kms away. We had one of those trolley carts dragging behind us, and the dog started going mad at something in the bush. We just thought it was going mad over a rabbit or something.

We looked up in the bush to the left of us and here’s this big hairy monster thing. We didn’t hang around, we just took off. We left the oranges!

It was about 6ft tall, hairy and didn’t have much of a neck. The head was just sitting on the shoulders and there was a lot of hair around its shoulders. He had his arms by his side. The hair was short and brown like a dog. It had a flat type of nose and face.

……………….

There was another time when we were hanging around the tractor shed, which was about half a mile from the house. We could see movement in the shed from where we were, and we thought it was our father getting ready to take the tractor out. We got a bit closer and this big hairy thing came out. It didn’t see us. We took off back home and told Mum and Dad what we saw. It was the same one as the first time we saw it.

………………..

The third experience was when we were heading to School one morning and we just happened to look out into the bush and there was two adults and three babies. It was a fair distance that we saw them, but there was two big ones and three small ones.

These experiences all happened over about 3 or 4 years.

People in the neighbourhood spoke about them but we seemed to be the one people who had seem them.
