Location: Rokewood (Dereel), Victoria
Event: Yowie Sighting
Date: June 2014
Time: 5.30am
Witness: Wes also had a Yowie sighting at Colac back in 1980.
I was driving a truck for a company here for about 12 months in 2014. I often travelled the Colac – Ballarat Road heading for Ballarat each morning. I wish I had a Dashcam. In the 12 months driving there I also saw two Black Panthers and a lot of wild dogs.
On this particular morning I was coming back from Ballarat towards Colac about 5kms out of Rokewood (on the Ballarat side). It was early with nobody else on the road, perhaps I saw only one or two trucks. I was coming around a bend, then down a hill, there was still a lot of bush, and I saw a Yowie. It was crossing the road ahead of me. It was about 7-1/2ft tall. I slowed the truck down but there was no way I was going to stop.
It freaked me right out. It then went back on the bush on the left hand side of the road. It was about 7-1/2 feet tall and had a really brownish orange matted fur and was walking on two legs. It was all bulk. I had a feeling it was a female, I don’t know why. It just looked like it was strolling. I saw the side and back of it, I didn’t see its face. The fur was really matted. I slowed down and had a good look, then slowly kept going.
It’s obviously the lucky few that get to see this creature. I’ve had two sightings now. I don’t tell too many people or they’ll say ‘Oh yeah, he’s crazy’.
I had the sightings of the two Black Cats and the Yowie in the same area within the one year.
