We were contract Hay Bailers on a property down around the Wollar area, and we also used to do a lot of spotlight shooting there.

We saw a lot of things that didn’t make sense like trees that were debarked with claw marks at 12ft high.

On this particular day we were supposed to be going water skiing, but we had to finish this bailing job we had out there. I just happened to be sitting on the side of this mountain in the truck with my brothers girlfriend looking over the valley, when at the same time, we saw it on the other side. It was about 8 or 9ft tall I’d say, kind of a dark orange hair. It just looked like an Orangutan you see at the Zoo type of thing. It was just standing there in a tree with its foot on a branch, one arm holding on above and the other arm hanging out, watching my brother on the tractor.

It was there for probably about 20 seconds and just like that, it disappeared.

Through you guys, I did some research and found out what the claw marks were from. The property is right on the back of the Goulburn National Park and its really dense scrub and mountainous type of country.

The whole thing put the wind up us. You always hear stories from others and often second guess it, but you never believe it until you see it with your own eyes.

My brother was totally oblivious to what was going on. We were on one side of the hill and we could see him [Yowie] on the other side valley on the other hill. He was about 5m up in a tree. I think he was up there trying to get a good view. He was 8 or 9ft tall. He was there for long enough for us to see what he was doing. He was just like a monkey in a Zoo, standing there with one arm on the branch above him holding on and one arm hanging down and he was watching my brother on the tractor.

The head was the most unique part of him. It was oval with a sloping forehead. It had dark orange hair. Only the face was skin, and that was dark. Everywhere else was the dark orange hair over the rest of its body, and it appeared to be long, perhaps 4”. It was solid.

I’ve tried to find my brothers ex-girlfriend on Facebook to talk to her about it. I’ve tried to track her down but that was a long time ago and she’s probably moved on and married now. It would be nice to have someone else to back me up.

Myself and my brother have spoken about it. We’ve seen a few strange things in the bush over the years, so he wouldn’t rule it out, and the property owner pretty much confirmed it for me. I asked him is he’s ever seen anything strange out here and he just laughed and turned away. I knew he’d seen something, just didn’t want to talk about it.

I would put it as somewhere between a monkey and a person or a gorilla and a person, something like that.

If you’re living out there and didn’t want to be found, you wouldn’t be found.
